According to Variety, Sam signed to join the cast of Enola Holmes alongside Milly Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter.

Directed by Harry Bradbeer, the film is based on Nancy Springer’s book series, “The Enola Holmes Mysteries.” The script was written by Jack Thorne […] The book series, which began with “The Case of the Missing Marquess” in 2006, is comprised of six books in total and tells the adventures of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes’ much younger sister, Enola, a highly capable detective in her own right. The first and fifth books in the series were nominated for Edgar Awards in 2007 and 2010, respectively.” (x)

Very excited news! Sam will be playing Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock and Enola’s older brother.

Trailer is out! Sam will be playing a small part in the movie and we are looking forward to seeing him reunited on screen with former co-stars Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games) and Kristen Stewart (Snow White and The Huntsman). The movie will be released in the UK on November 15th.

Thanks to Collider, we finally get to know a bit more about Sam’s character Brock:

There are two other big name actors in Charlie’s Angels we haven’t mentioned yet: Sam Claflin and Noah Centineo. Not much is known about their characters yet, but we do have some basic information after talking with them on set.

Claflin, who is reuniting with Banks after their time in the Hunger Games franchise together, is playing Alexander Brock, described as a Silicon Valley-type of guy – but the actor actually had no idea what that meant before joining the film.

I have a very small knowledge of male or female people within the industry that my character is based, in this sort of tech, Silicon Valley-esque kind of world,” Claflin said with a laugh. “Like it’s so far beyond my reach. It was quite a bit of research that me and Elizabeth were both jokingly like, ‘Oh maybe he’s a bit more like Elon Musk, or maybe he’s a bit more like … ’ so it was quite fulfilling learning about that world.

So what exactly did Claflin and Banks land on for Brock?

He’s a child that never grew up,” Claflin said. “He’s a gamer, lives in his own head and just managed to invent this tech that has made him what he is. He’s kind of spoiled in many respects. You get the impression after a few things that he says that he didn’t have the best upbringing. But he’s a very, very intelligent and knowledgeable man.”

Brock’s the hotshot boss of the company Elena works for and is trying to bring to justice when she discovers the new tech, Calisto, can actually do more harm than good in the wrong hands. But according to Claflin, Brock has no idea just how dangerous it is.

He’s an innocent party within this,” Claflin said. “He’s not sure of exactly what’s going on, which is why the Angels are here. Despite being a very, very intelligent man, he’s very, very stupid.” [x]

On Sunday 16th of June, Sam made his Soccer Aid debut for England! Unfortunately England lost, but the match was an amazing opportunity to raise funds for children in need all over the world. Sam has always been very fond of children’s organisations and of course, everyone knows about his passion for football – hence this perfect combination. We hope to see him participate again next year!

Soccer Aid earned a massive £6.7m for Unicef UK after the match which is absolutely amazing (x).

There it is… The Nightingale‘s first trailer and official poster!  We don’t know where to start to explain how excited we are to watch Sam take on such a completely different and challenging role. If you haven’t heard about the plot of this movie yet, “The Nightingale” is a period drama set in the 1800s. Newcomer Aisling Franciosi plays a convict seeking revenge against a British officer, played by Sam Claflin, for crimes he committed against her family. Aiding her is an Aboriginal tracker (Baykali Ganambarr) who has his own troubled past.” (x)

We interviewed Sam a few weeks ago and he confirmed it was going to be a tough watch, you can watch our interview here. We are also running a competition until the 26th of May to win a pair of ticket to the UK premiere of The Nightingale at the London Sundance Film Festival (1st of June). Find out more on how to win here.
