On November 7th, filming commenced on Sam’s newest project Journey’s End. Based on the 1928 play by R C Sherriff, it tells the story of life in the trenches during WW1. Sam will portray Captain Dennis Stanhope, a young commanding officer who has changed dramatically due to his time on the front line in France. The cast also includes Asa Butterfield, Paul Bettany, Tom Sturridge, Toby Jones & Robert Glenister. Below, we have written a synopsis & a description of some of the main characters so you can familiarise yourself with them!*
Synopsis: Set during the First World War, Journey’s End concerns the lives of a group of British officers on the front line and opens in a dugout in the trenches in France. Raleigh, a new eighteen-year-old officer, fresh out of English public school, joins the besieged company of his friend and cricketing hero Stanhope, and finds him dramatically changed…
Stanhope (Sam Claflin) – Commanding Officer of an infantry company. Tall, with dark hair, carefully brushed, his uniform, though old & war stained is well cut & cared for. He is good looking, rather from attractive features, than the healthy good looks of Raleigh. Although tanned from months in the open air, there is a pallor under his skin and dark shadows under his eyes. Read more »

Roger Michell is quoted as saying “So many really great films have grown out of the works of Daphne Du Maurier: ‘Don’t Look Now,’ ‘The Birds,’ ‘Rebecca’… .and here’s another of her classics which is at once detailed, dark, sexy, cinematic and full of surprises. I look forward to bringing this thrilling story to the screen with such a brilliant cast.”
We must admit that we are very excited for this project too! It sounds like another completely different & challenging role for Sam & we will be sure to keep an eye out for further news & updates as filming begins!
A couple of weeks after tweeting that he was starting filming, it looks like Sam is hard at work on his new film Their Finest Hour and a Half alongside co-star Gemma Arterton. The Daily Mail have posted photos from the set which show Sam and Gemma’s characters in what seems to be a highly charged scene. Sam looked amazing in typically period 1940’s attire to play Buckley, including a pair of round spectacles along with a smart three piece suit.
Their Finest Hour and a Half is directed by The Riot Club director Lone Scherfig and is based on the novel of the same name by Lissa Evans.
Sam tweeted on September 3rd that he has begun filming his new project Their Finest Hour and a Half. He will star alongside Gemma Arterton & Bill Nighy in the wartime comedy which is being directed by The Riot Club director Lone Scherfig. And it appears he will be playing Buckley.
Synopsis – A romantic comedy with a difference set in the early 1940s, the film combines the quick-fire repartee of a screwball battle of the sexes infused with the reality of filmmaking under threat of invasion and London in the Blitz. It is described as “a witty, warm-hearted and moving portrayal of a young woman screenwriter finding her way in matters of life, death and the heart.”
The book by Lissa Evans on which the film is based is available to buy from Amazon.
We wish Sam the very best of luck with filming & we cannot wait to see the finished film!

It seems like it was one of Sam’s first day back on the set of The Huntsman. He seems happy to be back to work with his co-star Chris Hemsworth!
According to IMDb, the film is set to be released on April 22, 2016 in the UK. If you want to know the release date for your country, be sure to check out IMDb!
Thanks to DailyMail we were lucky enough to get photos from the set of The Huntsman, giving us a first look at Sam as Prince William! #PrinceWilliamIsBack
From the cold fog of Wales, the cobbled paths and lights of Paris to the sunsets and sands of Spain, we’ve followed Sam on his journey to becoming the incomparable Will Traynor for the film adaptation of Jojo Moyes’ beautiful novel Me Before You, set to be released in Summer 2016. The role of the miserable quadriplegic enlightened by the sprightly step and bumblebee tights of his newest carer Lou Clark (Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke) has certainly brought a transformation for Sam from his last role as Finnick Odair in the Hunger Games franchise; yet under that distant expression, beard scruff and confines of a wheelchair, we know his talent will shine through and move us to tears once more. With thanks to the Daily Mail we were lucky enough to get to see some incredible BTS shots of Sam & Emilia filming in Spain during June, including our first shots of Sam using Will’s wheelchair!
