SCF London Adventure N° 7: Their Finest

SCF were in London once more on October 13th to once again support our fave guy at the BFI London Film Festival Gala Screening of his latest film Their Finest. Below, Jemma from the team tells us all about it!

Arriving in Leicester Square at 8:30am, I got my number (5!) ready to line up for the red carpet later on that evening. It can be a long day, but with lovely fans of Sam coming up all the time & wanting to chat about him & his work it makes the time pass so quickly! And by 4:30pm it was time to start lining up, ready for the red carpet to begin. It’s so cool to watch it all coming together, from the photographers pens being set up, to the posters getting attached to the railings, to finally that all important red carpet going down! And before you know it, the cars are pulling up & it is showtime!

The legendary Bill Nighy was first to arrive. I told him how excited I was to see the film the following day & he said that he hoped I would enjoy it. Next was Gemma Arterton, who is so lovely & really sweet. And then it was time for Sam! He arrived pretty soon afterwards, accompanied by his beautiful wife Laura. I called his name & when he saw me he gave a huge grin in our direction!

They both looked incredible as they posed for photos & as Sam continued to pose on his own, Laura came over. It was such a pleasure to finally meet her after 2 years & she is so so lovely! I gave her some gifts from us for all of them & she was so touched.

Then finally it was time to see Sam! He & Laura made a really cute joke about him not getting pen on her dress before she jokingly ran away from him! He gave me a hug & I told him how nice it was to see him again. As always, he thanked us for being there & I told him how excited I was to be seeing the film the next day. He said that he hoped I enjoyed it. I asked him how he was & he said that he was good…but tired! And as he walked off he thanked us again for being there to support him. It’s honestly such a pleasure to support such a great guy & I am so proud to be a fan of such a kind hearted, down to earth, talented man. Sam – you rock.

It was also so so nice to catch up with Sam’s lovely Mum & Dad, Sue & Mark, and his little brother Joe. Thank you for always being so kind. And as it was Mark’s birthday, of course we had to get him a card! Hope you had a wonderful day Mark :)

And so…there you have it! Another wonderful adventure over…and we really cannot wait for the next one! As we mentioned earlier in the article, Jemma was lucky enough to have a ticket to see the film & her spoiler free video review will be on the way in the next few days so keep an eye out!
