According to ComingSoon.net, Principal Photography on Sam’s latest project My Cousin Rachel, alongside Rachel Weisz will begin on April 4th. Filming will begin in England, before moving to Italy and wrapping in mid-June. It will also star his The Riot Club co-star Holliday Grainger, along with Iain Glen & Simon Russell Beale.

Adapted from the classic Daphne Du Maurier novel of the same name, My Cousin Rachel tells the story of Philip Ashley (Claflin), a young Englishman who plots revenge against his mysterious, beautiful cousin, believing that she murdered his guardian. But his feelings become complicated as he finds himself falling under the beguiling spell of her charms. It was previously adapted for screen in 1952 & starred Richard Burton alongside Olivia de Havilland.

Fox Searchlight Pictures is behind the remake, which will be directed by Roger Michell & produced by Kevin Loader with Anita Overland as co-producer. Roger Michell is quoted as saying “So many really great films have grown out of the works of Daphne Du Maurier: ‘Don’t Look Now,’ ‘The Birds,’ ‘Rebecca’… .and here’s another of her classics which is at once detailed, dark, sexy, cinematic and full of surprises. I look forward to bringing this thrilling story to the screen with such a brilliant cast.”

We must admit that we are very excited for this project too! It sounds like another completely different & challenging role for Sam & we will be sure to keep an eye out for further news & updates as filming begins!
